A Historic Peace Deal Brings the Gaza War to an End: President Trump

SHARM EL-SHEIKH — U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Monday that a breakthrough agreement to end the Gaza war and usher in a new era of Middle East peace has been signed, marking what he described as one of the most significant diplomatic achievements in recent history.

The historic peace agreement, signed in Egypt, was witnessed by leaders from the United States, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the Palestinian territories. The signing ceremony took place at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Conference and marked the first phase of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas — achieved through active mediation by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.

Trump Hails “Historic Achievement”

President Trump praised the agreement as a “historic achievement,” citing years of conflict, diplomacy, and humanitarian suffering that contributed to its conclusion.

“Many people have been fighting and working hard for this moment — a lasting peace in the Middle East,” he said, noting that the accord went through a “complex and delicate process” to reach this stage.

He expressed confidence that the agreement will hold and congratulated the countries involved for their contributions to reaching the truce.

Reconstruction Begins as Ceasefire Takes Hold

Trump also said that reconstruction operations in Gaza have already begun, referring to the Gaza ceasefire peace agreement as a “historic document” that officially ends the Gaza war.

The agreement represents the culmination of months of intensive shuttle diplomacy involving multiple regional powers. For Africa — particularly Egypt, which shares a border with Gaza and has served as a key mediator throughout the conflict — the deal carries significant implications for regional stability, trade corridors, and humanitarian access across North Africa and the broader Mediterranean basin.
